I originally came to Kari because of back pain, that was over ten years ago. My back pain cleared up quite quickly, but I have continued to work with Kari because she has profoundly increased my flexibility, endurance, and ease of movement.

Kari is an imaginative and creative teacher.  She adjusts the lessons to match my particular focus and interest, and she teaches a calm awareness that extends to all other aspects of my life.

Working with her, I’ve experienced deeper levels of concentration and clarity of mind.  And the lessons are really fun!

From inception to my final session in the Alexander Technique, I always felt that my curiosity and discovery was prioritized and sacred to Kari. This allowed me to welcome myself to learning my mind and body in a whole new way, without worrying if I was progressing at pace, or “getting it right.” Astonishingly, I found that this way of working helped me grasp the concepts and practice of Alexander in a deeper way from the cerebral to the somatic aspects of my being.

Being instead of doing (a key tenant of the Alexander Technique) was something that through many creative, intuitive activities led by Kari, I was able to excavate thoroughly. This excavation among others led to deep, beneficial changes in my heart, mind and body that have transformed and elevated my work as an actor and an artist. Simply put, Kari is one of one in the field of Deep Embodied Learning. Working with her has helped me find more power within myself. I am forever grateful.

Multiple times a day, I feel buoyed up by something I’ve learned from Kari. Whether it’s attending to my head/neck joint or opening my heart to let a distressing emotion flow through, not resisting, I feel more alive and fulfilled. Her presence and touch are grounding and expansive, inviting me into a deeper connection to myself and the world. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to respect and honor myself.

Kari has helped me transform unconscious patterns trapped in my body so I can free myself and make choices from a place of awareness, in ways that years of talk therapy have not.

Kari creates a safe space so that I can trust myself and let go. There is a joy in each of our sessions, whether it’s from releasing old patterns of pain or being reduced to gales of laughter by her wit. She has the gravitas of an elder combined with the ebullience of a child.

Studying with Kari has been a pivotal practice in my successful management of chronic pain due to severe lower back issues as well as generalized degenerative arthritis. I have marked problems ambulating and Alexander work has been tremendously helpful in reducing pain and improving my mobility. I am also a vocalist and Kari’s techniques have helped me to feel supported when I sing. I feel that my vocal practice has been enriched by incorporating the Alexander Technique.

Kari is magical with a gentle touch and positive guidance. A connection between mind, body, and spirit can be discovered. She is well educated, practiced, and continues to sharpen her skills. She has a strong clinical background in helping dancers, actors, musicians, as well as persons with various neuromuscular maladies.

As both a physician and a patient, I believe that the Alexander Technique will ultimately be incorporated into the Allopathic model of healthcare. And I can’t imagine a better clinician!
