Certified Alexander Technique Teacher, M.AmSAT

I grew up around the world before graduating in English with a concentration in Theatre at Oberlin College. After college, I moved to San Francisco where I danced daily until a major injury forced me to stop. Though the injury created crisis, it also lead me to the discovery of the Alexander Technique. I trained for 3 years at the Alexander Technique Institute in San Francisco, with renowned teacher Frank Ottiwell. I received my certificate in 1992, after which I opened a thriving private practice in the Mission. I have worked with diverse populations and specialize in working with performers, primarily musicians and actors. From 2008-2022, I was on the MFA faculty of the American Conservatory Theater. My practice is informed by Cranial Sacral Therapy, Orthobionomy, Yoga, Swimming, walks on the beach and playing the Cello. Ever curious about the full human experience, I am currently enrolled at the California Institute of Integral Studies, in the Somatic Department, working towards a degree in Counseling Psychology. My studies are further informed by the Tamura Method and Hakomi. I live in the Mission with my partner of 30 years, Lisa, and our Australian shepherd mix, Frankie.
